The NCAA Division II Men's Golf committee has announced the selections for the 2018 NCAA Midwest/Central Super Regional and Grand Valley State has earned the #1 seed in the Midwest Region. With the selection, the Lakers have now appeared in 16 consecutive NCAA Tournament's and 19 overall appearances in program history. The Midwest/Central Regional tournament will be held at Findlay Country Club in Findlay, Ohio and is hosted by Findlay University on May 7-9.

At a minimum, the top three teams and the top two student-athletes not with a team from each regional (regardless of region) will advance to the finals May 21-25, at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at the Shoals, Fighting Joe Course in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. The remaining eight team berths will be allocated based on the regions represented in the prior year's head-to- head medal play portion of the championships, with the maximum number of teams from a given region capped at seven. The finals will be hosted by the University of North Alabama.

Joining the Lakers in the Midwest Region are Indianapolis, Missouri-St. Louis, Wayne State, Maryville, Bellarmine, Saginaw Valley State, McKendree, Tiffin, and Findlay. The Central Region consists of Arkansas Tech, Central Oklahoma, Central Missouri, Lindenwood, Southeastern Oklahoma, Harding, Henderson State, Missouri Western, Southwestern Oklahoma, and Minnesota State Mankato.

The Lakers, fresh off of their second GLIAC Championship in as many seasons, have won two tournaments this season and failed to finish outside of the top-four in their 10 tournaments. The Lakers will be led by GLIAC Golfer of the Year
