BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced its 2017 All-GLIAC Women's Lacrosse teams at the banquet on the evening prior to the GLIAC Tournament Semifinals that start on Friday. Grand Valley State had seven individuals named to All-GLIAC teams, while Laker midfielder
Kira Dosenberry was named the GLIAC Defender of the Year for the 2017 season.
Freshman attacker
Abbi O'Neal (Severna Park, Md.), junior midfielder
Meghan Datema (Rockford, Mich.), and senior midfielder Dosenberry (San Diego, Calif.) were all named All-GLIAC First Team. All-GLIAC Second Team honors were earned by senior attacker
Ryan Skomial (Howell, Mich.), junior midfielder
Meggan Loyd (Grand Rapids, Mich.), and senior defender
Kelly Leibovitz (Naperville, Ill.). Junior Defender
Aimee Hite was named to the All-GLIAC honorable mention team.
Dosenberry was named the GLIAC Defender of the Year after making a major impact on the defensive side of the field for the Lakers this season. Dosenberry grabbed 17 draw controls on the season, with 26 ground balls to lead the team. The Laker midfielder also caused 20 turnovers on the year, leading GVSU in the category. Dosenberry finishes her GVSU career with the highest ground ball total in program history.
