No. 2 Grand Valley State Set To Host No. 8 West Texas A&M Thursday

The No. 2 ranked Grand Valley State Lakers will open the 2010 season Thursday, Sept. 2 at Lubbers Stadium versus No. 8 West Texas A&M. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. First-year head coach Matt Mitchell will make his debut as the Lakers' head coach. Tickets are available at the GVSU Ticket Office located in the fieldhouse and also can be purchased at Lubbers Stadium prior to kickoff. CBS College Sports will televise the game live on DirectTV channel 613, while Dish Network will air the game on channel 152. Comcast 734 will also show the game live, while Fox Sports Detroit will replay the game Friday (Sept. 3) at 12 noon. The voice of the Lakers, Dick Nelson, will call the game on GVSU's flagship station 106.9. (more)

Men's Basketball to Hold Tryouts on September 29th

The Grand Valley State men's basketball team will be holding tryouts on September 29th in the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena, with the tryout lasting from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. All interested players must sign up in the men's basketball offices, located in 163 Fieldhouse. (more)

GVSU Athletics Hosts Second Annual FanFest

The Grand Valley State athletic department hosted the second annual FanFest on Thursday night (Aug. 26), presented by 48 West Apartments. Over 3,000 fans, students, and community members packed the Laker Turf Building and were able to meet and greet with the 2010 GVSU football and volleyball teams. (more)

GLIAC Coaches Select GVSU to Win 2010 Women's Soccer North Division Title

The head women's soccer coaches of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) selected Grand Valley State, defending league champions and national champions, to win the 2010 GLIAC North Division women's soccer title. GVSU claimed the top-spot with 25 points and five first place votes, outdistancing Saginaw Valley State by four points. (more)
