GVSU Falls to Urbana, Powers Past Lake Superior State

Grand Valley State split a pair of games at the Urbana Tournament on Saturday afternoon (Mar. 20), falling to the host Blue Knights 1-0 in the opening game, and using three homers to defeat Lake Superior State by a 7-2 score in game two. The three teams will play each other again on Sunday afternoon in Urbana, Ohio. (more)

#9 GVSU Claims GLIAC Sweep At Hillsdale College (12-2, 13-1)

#9 Grand Valley State (12-3, 4-0 GLIAC claimed a GLIAC sweep at Hillsdale College friday afternoon. The Lakers claimed game one by a 12-2 scored, followed by a 13-1 win in the nightcap. GVSU and Hillsdale will complete the three-game set Saturday at 12 noon. (more)

Martin Earns First GLIAC Softball Player of the Week Award

Freshman designated hitter Katie Martin was named the GLIAC Softball Player of the Week for the opening week of the season, as was released by the conference offices on Friday (Mar. 19). Martin hit .441 during Grand Valley State's spring break trip in Clermont, Fla., leading the Lakers in hits, doubles, runs, homers, and RBI. (more)

Ringler Tabbed as NABC All-Midwest Region First Team Selection

Grand Valley State junior Justin Ringler was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division II Midwest Region First Team, as released on Wednesday (Mar. 17). Ringler was one of six players voted to the All-Region First Team, while 11 players overall were selected as all-region honorees. A 6-4 forward, Ringler led GVSU in points, rebounds, and assists as the Lakers went 22-9 and advanced to the NCAA regional semifinals. (more)
