Allendale, Mich. - The Grand Valley State women's cross country team jumped ahead of Chico State and overtook the #1 ranking in the latest national poll, released by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Wednesday (Oct. 28). GVSU is coming off of its ninth straight GLIAC title and had been ranked #2 in the country for the entire season.
Grand Valley State had seven runners finish in the top-eight at the GLIAC Championship and totaled a team score of 20 points, finishing 47 points ahead of Ferris State. The Lakers head to Kenosha, Wisc. for the Midwest Regional Championship on Nov. 7, with the NCAA National Championship being held on Nov. 21 in Evansville, Ind.
