Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State will compete in the 2002 GLIAC Championships on Saturday at Kensington Park with a start time of 10:00 am. The Lakers enter the race with both men's and women's teams ranked number one in the Great Lakes Regional rankings. The women will try to defend their title and also try to make it three titles in the last four years. The men will try to win their first GLIAC cross country title in school history after finishing third in 2001, only five points behind the winner Wayne State.

GVSU returns three members who earned All-Conference honors a year ago. Sophomore Natalie Ewing finished second in 2001 and eanred Freshman of the Year honors, while Mandi Long placed third. Senior Shannon Antvelink, who has won two races already this year, was the third All-Conference honoree as she finished fourth.

Aaron Rogers leads the men's team as the only returner who earned All-Conference plaudits. Rogers finished fourth at the GLIAC Championships and was also an All-American in 2001.
