Laker Cross Country Teams Both Ranked in Top-Five

New Orleans, La. - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its Division II cross country national rankings on Wednesday (Oct. 7), placing both the GVSU women's and men's teams in the top-five.

The Laker women were tabbed as the second-ranked team in the nation, behind Chico State. Missouri Southern State ranked third, followed by Adams State and Alaska Anchorage. Grand Valley State's Megan Maceratini was named GLIAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week on Tuesday (Oct. 6) after a second-place finish at the Notre Dame Invitational last Friday (Oct. 2). Maceratini finished with a time of 17:40, helping GVSU to a first place team finish.

GVSU men were ranked fourth, while Adams State was named #1 in Division II men's cross country. Western State listed third, followed by Chico State, while Queens of Charlotte sits in fifth. Grand Valley State sophomore Tyler Emmorey was named GLIAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week on Tuesday (Oct. 6), after helping GVSU to a second place team finish at the Notre Dame Invitational last Friday (Oct. 2). Emmorey crossed the finish line third with a time of 24:44.

Both the men and women will compete Friday, Oct. 9 at the Michigan Intercollegiate in Grand Rapids, Mich. The meet is scheduled to get underway at 3:30 p.m.
