Allendale, Mich. - After having a weekend off, the Grand Valley State men's and women's cross country teams will face stiff competition at the Notre Dame Invite this Friday. The women's team jumped one spot in the Division II national rankings to third while the men remained fourth in the nation.

"We are excited for the opportunity to race against some of the best competition from around the country," said GVSU head coach Jerry Baltes.

Fifteen ranked teams will be competing at the Notre Dame Invite, with six in the men's blue division and nine in the women's blue division. Grand Valley State will be competing in the gold divisions. A total of 54 schools will be represented at the event.

"Notre Dame has a lot of tradition in this meet, and it will provide a great test for our men and women," Baltes said.

In their last meet, the men and women both performed well at the Spartan Invite in East Lansing, Mich. The men took first place, defeating host Michigan State, while the women finished second, just behind the Spartans.
