New Orleans, La. - Grand Valley State moved up one spot to the No. 2 rank in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division II rankings. The Lakers were ranked third to start the season, but moved ahead of Seattle Pacific on Sept. 24.

GVSU competed at the Calvin College Invitational last weekend, hosted by Division III No. 1 Calvin College. Their next meet is the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind. on Oct. 3. Regional competitors Ferris State and Northern Michigan both dropped out of the top 25 in this week's poll.
