Krista O'Dell was named the GLIAC Runner of the Week for opening the season with her first collegiate victory by winning the Aquinas Invitational at Riverside Park in Grand Rapids. She won the meet with a time of 18:09, a lifetime personal best and the fourth fastest time in Grand Valley State cross country history.

The Lakers won the meet with a 69-point margin over second place Aquinas. Grand Valley tallied a meet-low 15 points by placing all five women in the top five spots.
