Holland, Mich. - Grand Valley State started the cross country season with the 2009 Hope Vanderbilt Invitational at Holland, Mich., Saturday, Sept. 5. The Lakers took on Hope College on the Holland Campus.
Lynsey Ardingo was the top finisher for the GVSU women's cross country team. She crossed the finished line in 18:32, while Amy Kolin came in second with a time of 18:34. Grand Valley State's Monica Kinney came in third with a time of 18:44.
On the men's side, Tyler Emmorey took second place in the tournament with a time of 25:50. Nate Knisely was third with a time of 26:04 and Jeff Nordquist finished fifth at 26:13.
"This was a very solid season opener for our men and women. It was a good course to challenge our fitness," said head coach Jerry Baltes.
