New Orleans, La. - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced on Wednesday (Aug. 25) the preseason national cross country rankings for division II. Grand Valley State's women's cross country team earned the second spot, while the men's team claimed the fifth. Adams State was selected as the leading team on both the men's and women's side.

The men's and women's team earned the top-spot in the Midwest Regional poll, which was released on Tuesday (Aug. 24). The women's team won its ninth straight Midwest Regional crown last year and placed second at the national meet. The men's squad notched its eighth consecutive Midwest Regional title and finished fifth at the cross country championships.

Grand Valley State opens its 2010 campaign on Sept. 17 in East Lansing, Mich., when they run in the Michigan State Invitational at 1:00 p.m.
