USTFCCCA Announces Cross Country All-Academic Teams

New Orleans, La. - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the members of the 2009 NCAA Division II USTFCCCA Men's and Women's All-Academic Cross Country teams on Friday (Feb. 26). Grand Valley State placed three student-athletes on the teams.

To qualify for all-academic honors, the student-athlete must have completed at least 12 semesters/quarter hours through the semester of competition at the institution to be eligible. The student-athlete must have at least a 3.25 cumulative grade point average and have placed in the top 30 percent of the total number of athletes eligible to compete at the respective regional championships or have placed in the top 50 percent of the field at the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships.

Anthony Witt from the men's team earned all-academic honors. He finished 53rd at the NCAA Championships and is majoring in Biomedical Sciences. Two members from the women's team also collected all-academic honors. Amy Kolin finished 26th at the national meet, while Megan Maceratini crossed the finish line 175th. Kolin is majoring in Clinical Exercise Science and Maceratini is majoring in Nursing.
