Kenosha, Wis. - The Grand Valley State women's cross country team dominated the field at the Midwest Regional Championships in Kenosha, Wis. on Saturday (Nov. 7) on its way to the ninth straight team title. GVSU had all five runners place in the top-10, led by junior Megan Maceratini's third-place tally.

GVSU totaled a team score of 26 points, while Southern Indiana came in second with 76 points. Ferris State finished third with 103, just ahead of fourth-place Hillsdale with a score of 109. Ashland rounded out the top-five with 131 points.

Grand Valley State, Southern Indiana, and Ferris State all advance to the NCAA Division II National Championships in Evansville, Ind. on Nov. 21.

Maceratini, who finished in second place at the GLIAC Championships, finished the 6K course in 21:53. Christina Muir from Ferris State took home the individual title with a time of 21:34, while Mary Ballinger from Southern Indiana placed second with a time of 21:44.

Junior Katherine McCarthy crossed the finish line in fourth with a time of 22:00, while senior Eileen Creutz finished right behind in fifth with a time of 22:01. Senior Lynsey Ardingo placed sixth with a time of 22:18 and sophomore Jessie Vickers finished eighth with a time of 22:38.

Not placing for Grand Valley State, but running well were sophomore Julia Nowak (14th place, 23:00) and senior Leah Borns (15th place, 23:09).

GVSU recorded an average time of 22:10, which was 47 seconds faster than second-place Southern Indiana.
