Grand Valley State's women's cross country team won its fifth consecutive GLIAC Championship title in dominating fashion. The Lakers totaled just 23 points, 50 points ahead of second place Northern Michigan (73). Senior Mandi Zemba won the meet and GLIAC Runner of the Year honors as she finished the 6,000 meter run in a time of 22:14.

Head coach Jerry Baltes was named the 2005 GLIAC Women's Coach of the Year, while Laura Aderman was named GLIAC Freshman of the Year.

Junior Stacey Kandas finished in fourth place overall in a time of 23:02.5, sophomore Karlie Singleton ran a 23:06.9 for fifth place, and freshman Laura Aderman placed sixth with a time of 23:39.8. Sophomore Ashley Wharton rounded out the scoring for the Lakers, finishing seventh as she ran a 23:51.

Grand Valley State will look to defend its Great Lakes Regional Championship title in Big Rapids, Mich. on Nov. 5. The Laker women have won the title four straight times.
