Grand Valley State's women's cross country team finished in second place in the 4K at the Michigan Intercollegiate Championships on Friday. The Lakers tallied 33 points and finished behind the University of Michigan who recorded 11 points.

Natalie Ewing finished in fourth place with a time of 13:57, followed by Krista O'Dell, who had a time of 14:17. Meagn Doerr took 12th place with a time of 14:29, Jeannette Seckinger was 15th (14:35), and Steph Sliwinski rounded out the scoring for the Lakers by taking 16th place with a time of 14:38.

GVSU also had a team of women run in the 6K race and they finished in sixth place with a total if 146 points. Adrian Chouinard finished first for the Lakers and 15th overall with a time of 22:57, while Sarah Jaquith was 20th, coming in at 23:10. Lauren Bader took 31st (23:34), Rai Russell was 38th with a time of 23:44, Amber Sebasta was 42nd (23:55), and Jacquie Taylor ran a 24:01.

Grand Valley will run at the GLIAC Championships held at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Mich. on Oct. 25, 2003.
