Grand Valley State's women's cross country team finished second in the Bulldog Invitational on Friday. The Lakers tallied 61 points and finished behind host Ferris State, who had 35 points.

GVSU was led by Julie Marin who finished fourth overall with a time of 19:20.80. Kelly Byrne finished 19th (19:53.70), Amber Sebasta was 20th (20:04.70), Jackie Taylor ran a 20:07.40 for 21st place, and Rae Russell was 22nd with a time of 20:07.90.

Jen Verkerke ran a 20:24.20 for 28th place, Karmen Schmidt tallied a 21:06.30 for 36th place, and Nikki Zamaria finished with a time of 21:42.10 for 47th place.
