Grand Rapids, Mich. - Samantha Gordon led eight Grand Valley State runners that finished in the top ten at the Aquinas College Cross Country Open on Friday. Gordon's 5000-meter time of 18:55.00 was two seconds behind Aquinas College's Amanda Strouse, who finished in first place. Gordon was followed by Susie Rivard, who finished in third place with a time of 18:57.00. Leah Borns (18.57.00) and Lori Burgess (18:58.00) rounded out the top five.

Rebecca Winchester finished in sixth place with a time of 19:01.00 and Lynsey Ardingo was right behind her with a time of 19:03.00. Megan Maceratini (8th, 19:07.00) and Amy Kolin (10th, 19:16.00) were also in the top ten, giving GVSU eight out of the top ten finishers.

Kelly Gibbons finished 12th in the race, crossing the tape at 19:25.00. Following her were Katherine McCarthy (14th, 19:39.00), Sarah Kulczycki (15th, 19:45.00) and Rosanna Chapman (20th, 19:51.00). Katie Alredson (17th, 19:46.00) and Shaylee Vanderbaan (21st, 19:51.00) were the top two unattached finishers for GVSU.

Grand Valley's team score of 20 put them well ahead of the competition. Indiana Tech finished in second place with a score of 86, while host Aquinas came in third with 95. GVSU's total time of 1:34.48.00 was 3:59.00 ahead of second place.
