Bay City, Mich. - For the second consecutive week, GVSU junior setter Kaitlyn Wolters was named the GLIAC North Division Player of the Week, released by the conference office on Monday (Nov. 18). Wolters and the Lakers clinched the regular season GLIAC championship with a pair of 3-1 road victories at Northwood and Hillsdale to finish the season with a 17-1 league record.

The wins put GVSU at 26-3 on the season and extended the Lakers' current win streak to 16 straight victories. Grand Valley State has won 24 of its last 25 matches heading into this week's GLIAC Tournament. Over the weekend, Wolters totaled 76 assists, 18 digs, nine blocks, and nine kills. She averaged 9.50 assists, 2.25 digs, and 1.12 blocks per set in the two wins.

Against defending GLIAC champion Northwood on Friday (Nov. 15), Wolters provided 37 assists, 13 digs, and a career-high seven block assists as GVSU won the final three sets in the 3-1 victory. The following day, the junior recorded 39 assists, six kills, five digs, and a pair of blocks in the Lakers' four-set win. With Wolters in the starting lineup, GVSU is 25-2.

She also was tabbed the GLIAC North Division Player of the Week last Monday (Nov. 11) and on Sept. 16. Wolters' teammates - junior Abby Aiken (Oct. 21) and sophomore Betsy Ronda (Nov. 4) - earned GLIAC North Division Player of the Week honors, as well.

Wolters ranks fifth in the GLIAC with 10.08 assists per set and eighth with 988 total assists. She is also fourth on GVSU in digs (282), fifth in total blocks (42), and sixth in kills (102) and service aces (18).

Grand Valley State, the league's #1 seed heading into the GLIAC Tournament, will host Saginaw Valley State on Wednesday night in the quarterfinals. The match is a 7:00 p.m. start and is a rematch of GVSU's 3-0 win over the Cardinals on Nov. 8 in Allendale.
