Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State has been selected to host the 2002 NCAA Great Lakes Regional Tournament it was announced Sunday night by the NCAA. Grand Valley State (29-2) is the number one seed, while fellow GLIAC member Northwood is the second seed. The Great Lakes Regional will begin Friday and run through Sunday's 5:00 p.m. Champinship match. This is the third straight year Grand Valley State has been selected to host the Great Lakes Regional. The Lakers have advanced to two straight DII Elite Eight's, including the semifinals a year ago.
"It is such an honor to be selected as the host of the Great Lakes Regional Tournament," said GVSU head coach Deanne Scanlon. "Not only is it an honor, but it is also a tribute to our senior class and all of the hard work they have put in over their careers."
Grand Valley State will play the winner of the quarterfinal matchup between Lewis and Southern Indiana on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Northwood will face the winner of the other quarterfinal matchup between Ferris state and Wheeling Jesuit on Saturday at 5 p.m. Friday's quarterfinals are set for 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Saturday, Nov. 23 5 p.m. -- #2 Northwood vs. Ferris State/Wheeling Jesuit winner 7:30 p.m. -- #1 Grand Valley State vs. Lewis/Southern Indiana winner
Sunday, Nov. 24 5 p.m. -- Championship Match
