Grand Valley State had five student-athletes named to the 2005 GLIAC Volleyball Postseason Awards All-Conference Teams. The Lakers sophomore Alyson Riley earned GLIAC Libero of the Year honors, while head coach Deanne Scanlon was named GLIAC Coach of the Year. The awards were announced at the GLIAC Tournament banquet on Friday night. GVSU was also presented with the GLIAC North Division Championship trophy as they topped the division with a 15-3 conference record.

Riley ranks second in the GLIAC, averaging 5.44 digs per game during the 2005 season. In just two seasons, she has tallied 1,011 digs, which ranks seventh on Grand Valley State's career leaders list. Riley has posted 20 or more digs 14 times this season, including a career-high 38 in a 3-2 win against Florida Gulf Coast.

Scanlon has led the Lakers to the school's eighth straight 20+ win campaign (23-6). In her 11 years at the helm of GVSU, Scanlon has tallied a 285-90 (.760) overall record, while compiling a 157-44 (.781) GLIAC record. She entered the 2005 season as the 12th winningest active coach in Division II. Scanlon has guided the Lakers to nine straight GLIAC Tournament appearances, including championship titles in 2000 and 2002. Deanne was also named GLIAC Coach of the Year in 2001.

Senior middle blocker Tracy Kirk and junior middle blocker Meghan Moore earned All-GLIAC First Team honors. This marks the second straight season Kirk has been named to the All-GLIAC First Team. She leads the Lakers and ranks sixth in the GLIAC with 3.97 kills per game. Her .375 hitting percentage ranks second in the GLIAC and first on the team. It also ranks second on GVSU's all-time single-season list. Kirk has been named GLIAC Player of the Week three times this season.
 

 

Moore leads Grand Valley and ranks third in the GLIAC, averaging 1.38 blocks per game. She ranks eighth in the GLIAC and second on the team with a .294 hitting percentage. Moore also ranks third on the team with 249 kills for an average of 2.65 per game. Meghan was named GLIAC Player of the Week on Oct. 3.

Junior outside hitter Megan Helsen joined Alyson Riley on the All-GLIAC Second Team. Helsen ranks second on the team with 2.54 digs and is third on the team with 2.53 kills. Megan also ranks second on the team with 27 services aces on the year.

Senior outside hitter Tina Tromblay rounded out the awards for the Lakers, earning All-GLIAC Honorable Mention honors. Tromblay ranks fourth on the team, averaging 2.30 digs per game. She is also posting 2.21 kills and 0.68 blocks per game. Tina has added 22 service aces and 23 assists on the year.

Sophomore outside hitter Gorana Maricic from Northwood University was named the GLIAC Player of the Year, while freshman outside hitter Nicole Hintze from Northern Michigan earned GLIAC Freshman of the Year honors.
