Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State will host the GLIAC Volleyball Tournament this weekend (Nov. 14-16) as they posted the best conference regular season record at 17-1. The three day tournament will start with four matches on Thursday with the first starting at noon. The semifinals begin at 5:00 pm on Friday with the Championship on Saturday at 5:00 pm. All matches will be held in the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena. The Lakers enter the tournament ranked #5 in the country and first in the NCAA Great Lakes Region. GVSU will play Michigan Tech in the first round on Thursday at 7:30 pm.

Grand Valley was in a similar situation last year as they entered the GLIAC tournament at Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek with a 17-1 conference mark and were the first seed. The Lakers also played Michigan Tech in the first round but were upset 3-2. This is the first season the GLIAC Tournament has been held at one of the participating schools.

GVSU owns a 46-1 record in the Fieldhouse Arena over the past three seasons with their only loss to South Dakota State in the NCAA Final Four a year ago.
