Allendale, Mich. - On Wednesday afternoon (Sept. 24), the #9 Grand Valley State Lakers hosted the Shanghai Volleyball Club, which is closing their near two-week tour through Michigan. The Shanghai Volleyball Club has also enjoyed visits to the University of Michigan, Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo College, and Kalamazoo Valley Community College.

The teams practiced together in GVSU Fieldhouse Arena in the early afternoon, with various Laker faculty, staff, and students taking in the competition. Similar to an American college team, the Shanghai Volleyball Club features players from 16-21 years of age who are recruited to play on their team.

After practice, the teams headed over to Grand Valley State's Fresh Food cafeteria for lunch. The group then toured campus, including a stop at the GVSU football practice. Both teams were going to visit Lake Michigan later in the afternoon.

Grand Valley State returns to action this weekend, as the Lakers travel to Saginaw Valley State on Friday (Sept. 26) at 7:00 p.m. and take on Lake Superior State on Saturday (Sept. 27) at 2:00 p.m. GVSU is currently 12-2 overall with a 5-0 GLIAC mark and take a nine-match win streak into the weekend.
