Grand Valley State seniors Nicole Bayle and Sabrina Bird have been named to the 2003 AVCA Division II All-America Team. The seniors helped the Lakers to their fourth straight Elite Eight appearance and a 30-8 overall record. GVSU fell, 3-1 (21-30, 30-25, 29-31, 26-30) in the NCAA Division II Semifinals to North Alabama in San Bernardino, California.

Bayle was named to the AVCA First-Team for the second consecutive year. She averaged 10.34 assists, 2.31 digs and 0.67 blocks per game in 2003 en route to being named AVCA All-Great Lakes Region for the third time.

Bird earned her first ever AVCA Third-Team honors after producing a .354 hitting percentage with averages of 3.17 kills and 1.16 blocks. Bird was also named the GLIAC Player of the Year for 2003.
