Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State earned a trip to the NCAA Elite Eight with a 30-23, 30-26, 30-24 victory over Northwood in the Great Lakes Regional championship match on Sunday in the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena. It is the third straight year the Lakers have won the tournament to advance to the championships. Senior Carly Miller tallied 16 kills and 11 digs and was named MVP. GVSU improves to 31-2 on the season and will play Edinboro College on Thursday, December 5 in quarterfinal action. The time and location will be announced on Monday.

"It is just an unbelievable accomplishment for this team," said head coach Deanne Scanlon. "It is just overwhelming to think we are going to the championships for the third straight year. We are very excited."

Nicole Bayle recorded 9 kills with a .750 attack percentage, 35 assists, and 11 digs for GVSU while Chara Fehsenfeld tallied 9 kills and 11 digs. Traci Skrzypek registered 8 kills with a .533 attack percentage and seven digs and was named to the Regional All-Tournament team.

Grand Valley State Women's Volleyball
