Grand Valley State defeated Hillsdale College, 3-2 (30-28, 26-30, 30-22, 25-30, 15-13) in the second Semifinal match of the GLIAC Tournament Saturday night. GVSU improves to 26-5 overall and will play Ferris State on Sunday, Nov. 14 at 5:00 p.m. The Lakers will be making their fourth GLIAC Championship appearance.

Grand Valley won game one, 30-28 and the Chargers came back and won game two, 30-26. The match continued to go back and forth as the Lakers won game three, 30-22, but Hillsdale took game four, 30-15. The two teams battled in the fifth game, but GVSU pulled out the 15-13 win to seal the match.

Junior Tracy Kirk tallied a team-high 17 kills, a .361 attack percentage, eight digs, and three assisted blocks. Senior Stephanie Maciasz recorded 16 kills, a .353 attack percentage, and five digs, while junior Tina Tromblay added 14 kills, a team-high 22 digs, and five assisted blocks. Junior Lauren Hanson posted 12 kills, two solo and six assisted blocks and sophomore Megan Helsen added 12 kills, two aces, and 15 digs. Redshirt freshman Alyson Riley posted 13 digs, while senior Leah Kunz recorded 40 assists.
