Grand Valley State defeated Michigan Tech, 3-0 (30-24, 30-16, 30-24) Wednesday in the first round of the GLIAC Tournament. GVSU improves to 25-5 overall, while Michigan Tech drops to 11-10. The Lakers advance to the Semifinal as the #1 seed and will host the Semifinals on Saturday, Nov. 13 and the Finals on Sunday, Nov. 14. #2 Ashland will play #3 Ferris State at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, while #1 Grand Valley will play #4 Hillsdale at 7:30 p.m.

GVSU won game one, 30-24, then hit .333 as a team in game two to pick up the 30-16 win, while the Huskies tallied a .048 attack percentage. The Lakers seal the match with a 30-24 game three victory.

Grand Valley tallied a .261 attack percecntage, while Michigan Tech hit just .096 as a team. The Lakers were led by junior Tracy Kirk who tallied a .419 attack percentage, a match-high 17 kills, two aces, and a solo and five assisted blocks. Sophomore Megan Helsen posted 12 kills, two aces, and 17 digs, while junior Tina Tromblay added 16 digs and five assisted blocks. Redshirt freshman Alyson Riley recorded 11 digs, while senior Leah Kunz and junior Michele Ehrlich each posted 26 assists.
