Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State wrapped up its straight GLIAC North title with a sweep of SVSU 30-20, 30-22, 30-27 in University Center on Saturday. Sabrina Bird recorded 14 kills with a .609 attack percentage to lead the Lakers. Grand Valley finishes the regular season with a 26-2 overall record and 17-1 in the conference and will host the GLIAC Tournament this Thursday through Saturday (Nov. 14-16) in the Fieldhouse Arena. GVSU is ranked #5 in the latest AVCA Top 25 and first in the Great Lakes Region.

Junior Nicole Bayle almost recorded a triple-double with 10 kills in 15 attempts, 37 assists, and 8 digs. Carly Miller also had double-digit kills with 10 while Tracy Kirk added nine. Ten different Lakers recorded a kill in the match.

The GLIAC Tournament will start with four first round matches this Thursday (Nov. 14), beginning at Noon, with matches to follow at 2:30, 5:00, and 7:30. The Lakers will play in the final match of the day against an opponent that has yet to be determined. Two second round matches will start at 5:00 on Friday, November 15th and the GLIAC Championship match will be held on Saturday, November 16th at 5:00 pm. A GLIAC tournament bracket will be placed on the GVSU website as soon as it is released.
