Whenever Grand Valley and Ferris State matchup on the volleyball court it always proves to be a tough game. The same held true Friday night, but this time the Lakers pulled out a 3-1 (30-2, 31-29, 30-23, 30-27) victory in Big Rapids.

Nicole Bayle led GVSU with 45 assists, four service aces, a team-high 19 digs, and five assisted blocks. Tracy Kirk tallied 12 kills, a team-high .440 attack percentage and six blocks. Sabrina Bird also added six blocks, six digs, and eight kills, while Melissa Reneski recorded a team-high 13 kills. Molly Young added 12 digs and Megan Helsen had 11 digs.

GVSU improves to 20-5 overall and 12-1 in GLIAC play.

The Lakers will return home next weekend as they host Northwood on Oct. 31 at 7:00 p.m. and Saginaw Valley on Nov. 1 at 4:00 p.m.
