Grand Valley State improved to 15-4 overall and 7-1 in the GLIAC with a 3-0 (30-28, 30-12, 30-19) win over Gannon University Friday night. The win marked the fifth consecutive GLIAC sweep by the Lakers. GVSU will play at Mercyhurst on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 2:00 p.m.

The Lakers hit .357 as a team in the match, while Gannon hit just .143. GVSU also added seven service aces and six blocks.

Senior middle blocker Tracy Kirk led the way for the Lakers, tallying a match-high 17 kills, one ace, and one solo block, while hitting .538. Sophomore middle blocker Erica Vandekopple added 10 kills, a .588 attack percentage, a dig, and one solo block.

Sophomore Alyson Riley led the team with 15 digs, while sophomore Cortney Lokker added 13 digs and seven kills. Redshirt freshman Jamie Ashmore recorded 35 assists, while freshman Kelly Hogan added 11 assists.
