Grand Valley State dropped its first two matches at the Northern Kentucky Crossover on Friday. The Lakers are now 6-4 overall. GVSU will play Saturday against Southern Illinois University Edwardsville at 12:30 p.m.

The rematch of #13 Grand Valley State versus #21 Wheeling Jesuit did not go in favor of the Lakers, as they were defeated, 3-0, by the Cardinals. GVSU fell to Wheeling Jesuit, 3-2, in the Days Inn Classic last Friday.

Grand Valley also fell to Northern Kentucky, 3-2, on Friday in their second game at the NKU Crossover. The Lakers lost their first two games, 25-30, 20-30, but came back to win the following two, 30-24, 30-24. Game five was an exciting one, as the teams were both tied at 15. Northern Kentucky won the next two points to seal the victory, 17-15.

Nicole Bayle led the Lakers with 53 assists, Stephanie Maciasz added 22 kills, and Katie Horvath recorded 12 digs for GVSU.

The Lakers will face Southern Illinois University Edwardsville at 12:30 p.m. and West Virginia Wesleyan College at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
