Allendale, Mich. - GVSU suffered its first loss of the season with a 3-0 (30-24, 30-25, 30-23) defeat at the hands of #6 North Alabama State in Florence, Ala. The Lakers fall to 2-1 on the season while the Lions improve to 5-0.
North Alabama held the Lakers to a .123 attack percentage and only 34 kills. Senior Carly Miller recorded 10 kills and 13 digs, her second double-double of the season, while senior Chara Fehsenfeld posted 7 kills and 8 digs.
Grand Valley will host the Days Inn Classic next weekend (Sept. 6-7) in the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena and will play two home games on Friday and two more on Saturday. The first match of the tournament for GVSU is at noon on Friday versus Lees McRae.
