Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State opened the 2002 volleyball season with an easy 3-0 (30-14, 30-16, 30-25) victory over Henderson State at the North Alabama Invitational in Florence, Ala.
The Lakers posted a .441 hitting percentage, as they tallied 52 kills in the match. Sabrina Bird and Chara Fehsenfeld both recorded 11 kills while Carly Miller added 10 kills and 7 digs. Nicole Bayle registered 7 kills on 9 attacks (.778%) and 41 assists while Traci Skrzypek posted a team high 8 digs.
GVSU is ranked #9 in the Preseason AVCA poll and start the season 1-0. The Lakers play #8 North Dakota State at 7:30 on Saturday (Aug. 31).
