#10 Grand Valley State concluded the University of North Alabama Classic with a 2-2 record after sweeping Southern Arkansas, 3-0, Saturday night. GVSU will play its home opener on Sept. 3 at 2:00 p.m. against West Texas A&M as the Lakers host the Radisson Riverfront Classic.
GVSU won games one and two, 30-19, and closed out the contest by winning game three 30-16. The Lakers tallied a .327 attack percentage, while holding Southern Arkansas to just .132.
Junior Tina Tromblay recorded a team-high 12 kills, seven digs, and three assisted blocks. Sophomore Megan Helsen tallied a team-high eight digs and four service aces. Junior Tracy Kirk added a .636 attack percentage and four assisted blocks. Junior Michele Ehrlich recorded 36 assists in her first start as a Laker.
Two Lakers were named to the UNA Classic All-Tournament team. Junior Lauren Hanson led the Lakers with a 3.25 kills per game, a .391 attack percentage, and 14 total blocks during GVSU's four matches in the tournament. Junior Tracy Kirk recorded 44 kills, four aces, and 13 total blocks, which also earned her all-tournament plaudits.
