High School: Prepped at Kenowa Hills High School under head coach Justin Huit...Played three seasons on varsity and was a three-time All-O.K. White honoree...Was named Team MVP and earned all-region plaudits her senior year...Set the school record in kills...Also played four years of basketball and ran track for four years and cross country for three seasons...Was a three-time all-state and all-conference honoree in track...Was the state champion in the 300 meter hurdles...Earned all-academic honors three straight years...Also was in band for four years...Was in National Honor Society for three years and was a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes for two years.
Personal: Daughter of Michael and Tamara McCarthy...Has a twin sister, Katherine, who is going to run track for GVSU...Enjoys art. reading, sewing and drawing.
