Mandi Zemba Claims Eighth Place Finish At Pan Am Games

Former Laker track and field athlete Mandi Zemba finished in eighth place in the 5,000 meter run at the 2007 Pan-Am Games held in the Estádio João Havelange in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. She ran a time of 16:08.09. Megan Metcalfe from Canada won the race with a time of 15:35.78.

In the last race of her collegiate career, Mandi Zemba claimed her eighth national championship, seven of which were individual titles. Zemba claimed the title 5000m race in dominating fashion, finishing 48 seconds ahead of the second place finisher.

Zemba won her first national championship at the 2002 outdoor championships in the 1500. She won the cross country individual national championship in 2005, followed by outdoor titles in the 3000 and 5000 in 2006. During the 2007 indoor season, Zemba claimed titles in the Distance Medley Relay and the 5000. In addition to her 5000 title during her final NCAA Championship, Zemba dominated the field and claimed the national title in the 3000. After claiming four national championships during her senior season, Zemba finished as one of the most decorated women's track performers in NCAA Division II history.

Grand Valley State Women's Track
