20 Women's Athletes Named to USTFCCCA All-Academic Team

New Orleans, La. - Grand Valley State tallied the most individual athletes on the 2009 Division II Women's All-Academic Track and Field Team, as released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Monday (July 6). For the second straight year, the Lakers led the way with the most student-athletes on the list, with 20 athletes being honored on the 2009 team.

The USTFCCCA honors Division II individuals for their academic and athletic achievements during the indoor and outdoor track and field season. To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met the NCAA Division II Indoor or Outdoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard in their respective event. A total of 250 student-athletes representing 73 Division II colleges and universities made up the 2009 All-Academic team.

GVSU's 2009 All-Academic Team award winners are Katie Alfredson, Lynsey Ardingo, Lauren Buresh, Eileen Creutz, Maegan Doyen, Kelly Gibbons, Christi Kettelhut, Kellie Kieren, Monica Kinney, Amy Kolin, Megan Maceratini, Stephanie McCarthy, Karie McDonald, Emily McKerchie, Dianna Noonan, Kirsten Nozime, Sara Parks, Susie Rivard, Shaylee Vanderbaan, and Heather VanderSlik.
