Steph Kuhlman finished in 17th place in the first round of the 800m at the 2003 USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Cobb Track & Angell Field at Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif. She just missed the cut as the top 16 runners advance to the semi-final round.

Kuhlman ran the 800m event in a time of 2:07.05. The final time that qualified to advance was 2:06.80.

Kuhlman had an outstanding season for the Lakers and finished it by claiming the National Championship in the 800 meter run in a time of 2:05.34 at the NCAA DII Track & Field National Championships in Edwardsville, Ill. Grand Valley State finished 10th in the final team standings with 22 points.
