Steph Kuhlman ran a 2:05.75 in 800 prelim to set DII Indoor record.

Boston, Mass. - Stephanie Kuhlman set a NCAA DII National Championship meet record in the 800 (2:05.75) to highlight day one at the NCAA DII Indoor National Championships in Boston, Mass. Kuhlman's record-setting time placed her first in the 800 prelims and advanced her to the finals on Saturday. GVSU is currently in seventh place with five points after two scoring events. Earlier in the day, Grand Valley State head coach Jerry Baltes was named the NCAA DII Women's Indoor Coach of the Year.

Icis Charles placed fourth in the women's long jump (18-11.75) to earn all-american honors, while her time of 7.56 placed her second in the 60m dash prelims and qualified her for the finals. Krista O'Dell placed eighth (4:55.58) in the mile prelims, while Shannon Antvelink was 10th (4:56.94) as both advanced to Saturday's final. Natalie Ewing and Mandi Long finished 13th and 14th, respectively with times of 4:59.49 and 4:59.99. Freshman Ashley Thomas finished 12th in the 400m prelims and did not qualify for the finals. Becky Myers will compete in the weight throw on Saturday, as will the 4x400 relay team.
