Emporia, Kan. - Grand Valley State turned in a stellar first day at the NCAA DII Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Emporia, Kansas with 17 points. Adams State is in first with 23 points. The National Championships run through Saturday.
Morgan Acre put the Lakers on the board early with a second-place finish in the women's hammer throw. Acre earned All-American honors with her toss of 183-09. GVSU notched another strong showing in the women's 10,000 meter run as Adrian Chouinard and Stacey Kandas earned All-American pluadits. Chouinard finished fourth in a time of 36:43.12, while Kandas was fifth in a time of 36:55.68. Karlie Singleton was 10th (37:39.39).
