Charlotte, N.C. - Grand Valley State leads the team standings with 14 points after the first day of competition at the 2007 NCAA Division II Women's Track & Field Championships in Charlotte, N.C. Angelo State is second with 11 points and St. Augustine's third with 10. Day two will begin Friday with several Lakers competing in various events.
GVSU's Stacey Kandas earned All-America honors with an impressive performance in the 10,000 meter run Thursday night. Kandas crossed the finish line in second place with a time of 35:54.17. Emily Fox earned All-America plaudits in the hammer throw. Fox recorded a throw of 179-09 on her sixth and final attempt of the competition. Kathie Posa finished 10th in the hammer with a toss of 166-09.
