Allendale, Mich. - Dianna Noonan pole vaulted 13'2.25" at the Len Paddock Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich., setting a Grand Valley State University school record and ranking her ninth all-time in Division II. The Lakers had student-athletes at three different venues over the weekend: the University of Michigan, North Central College and Aquinas College. GVSU will now travel to the NCAA Championships in Pomona, Calif. on May 24-26.
Also at the Len Paddock Invite, GVSU had two vaulters finish at the top of the B Pole Vault. Kellie Kieren cleared 11'11.75" to take first, and Christi Kettelhut took second with a vault of 11'5.75". Kathie Posa also took fourth place in the hammer throw, hurling a distance of 175'11". Miranda Farr also had a nice show in the "A" Pole Vault, finishing fourth at 12'3.5".
At the Aquinas Twilight Invitational, Maegan Doyen took first in the high jump with a height of 5'7.25". Heather VanderSlik was just behind her, taking third place with a jump of 5'3.75". Mary Bogner also claimed a fifth place finish in the discus throw, notching a distance of 129'3". Bogner also took second place in the hammer throw with a distance of 166'5", just behind teammate Emily Fox, whose throw of 170'5" won the event.
