ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Dianna Noonan and Candice Wheat automatically qualified for the NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championships at the Len Paddock Invite at the University of Michigan this weekend. Rebecca Winchester also hit an automatic mark at the Charger Classic at Hillsdale College.

Noonan qualified in the pole vault with a first-place height of 12-11.5, while Wheat's fourth-place time of 13.64 in the 100-meter hurdles was just one-hundredth of a second off the GVSU school record and also automatically qualified her. Winchester notched her mark with a meet-best time of 10:48.97 in the 3000-meter steeplechase.

At the Len Paddock meet, six other Lakers qualified with provisional marks. Jocelyn Kuksa followed Noonan in the pole vault with a third-place vault of 12-7.5. Both Jessica Rutherford and Molly Poel hit provisional marks in throwing events. Rutherford hit hers with a throw of 44-7 in the shot put, while Poel hurled the hammer 164-0 to mark.

Kirsten Nozime and Danielle Fonseca both provisionally qualified in the 400-meter hurdles. Nozime led the way with a first-place finish and a time of 1:01.50 and Fonseca finished third at 1:02.06. Susie Rivard rounded out the GVSU qualifiers with a time of 4:35.55 and a fourth-place finish in the 1500-meter run.
