Big Rapids, Mich. - Grand Valley State is on course for its seventh straight Women's GLIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship after dominating day one with 111 points. Saginaw Valley State is in second with 43 points. The 2006 GLIAC Outdoor Championships will conclude Friday (May 5).

GVSU scored 28 points in the pole vault by placing four among the top five. Rachel Duthler finished first (12-8), followed by Lindsey Jones (12-4), Dianna Noonan (12-00) and Aleisha Taylor in fifth (11-00.25). The Lakers also dominated the 10,000 with 23 points. Adrian Chouinard finished first (37:48.94), Ashley Wharton second (38:57.43) and Sarah Kulczycki fourth (39:24.40). Laura Aderman (11:21.80) led a one-two finish in the 3000m steeplechase with a GLIAC Championship. Stephanie Kandas was second 11:41.50.

Morgan Acre took top honors in the hammer with a toss of 180-01, nearly 10 feet in front of second. Kati Smith was fifth (156-05) and Emily Fox seventh (154-08). Lindsey Jacob won the javelin with a throw of 130-00, while Katie Smith was sixth (112-08). Pam Treppa was just inched out in the triple jump and finished second with a jump of 37-1.00.
