Results

Findlay, Ohio - Grand Valley State dominated the 2006 GLIAC Women's Track & Field Championships Saturday at Findlay. GVSU tallied a two-day total of 181.50 points, while Ashland was a distant second (116). The title was the Lakers' seventh straight GLIAC women's indoor title.

Day two was all GVSU with team depth, three individual titles and a relay championship. Two-time National Champion Mandi Zemba, who was named the Women's Running Athlete of the Meet, captured top honors the mile (4:47.28) and 800 (2:12.32). Meredith DeVries won the high jump (5-3.25) and the Lakers' 4x400 relay team crossed first in a time of 3:55.18.

Kari Singleton was second in the 3000, crossing in 10:10.58, while Lauren Bader was third (10:13.80). Stacey Kanda was fifth (10:19.46) and Rosanna Chapman sixth (10:19.52). Bader added a fourth in the mile (5:03.49), followed by Susie Rivard in fifth (5:05.64), and Stephanie Kandas in eighth (5:11.58). Rivard doubled with a sixth-place finish in the 800 (2:17.62).

Jennifer O'Shesky finished fourth in the 55 hurdles (8.43), while Jen Tulpa was sixth (8.67) and Jameka Brown seventh (8.85). Pam Treppa was fifth in the 55 meter dash (7.43), April Szatkowski was third in the 200 (25.77) and Liz Shinn was sixth in the 400 (59.32). Treppa added a second in the triple jump (37-10).
 

 

Baltes was named the GLIAC Women's Coach of the Year as GVSU won six individual titles and used superior depth en route to its seventh straight GLIAC indoor title.

GVSU will next compete at the 2006 NCAA DII Indoor National Championships March 10-11.
