Allendale, Mich. - The Grand Valley State women's track & field team added three more NCAA DII provisional qualifying marks to the list of possible entrants into the NCAA DII Championships last Friday at the GVSU Open. The Lakers will next be in action at the Grand Rapids Championships in the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena Friday (Feb. 17).
Maegan Doyen finished first in the high jump and met the NCAA provisional standard with a leap of 5-07. Candice Wheat joined Jen Tulpa as a provisional qualifier in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.84, while Kathie Posa finished second in the weight throw and reached the NCAA provisional mark with a toss of 54-02.75.
Freshman Leah Borns established the top true freshman time in GVSU track & field history in the 5000m run (17:43.06) and finished first. Jessica Koster was third (17:56.42), Sarah Jaquith fourth (18:08.47) and Lynsey Ardingo fifth (18:08.91) in the 5000. Jennifer O'Shesky was second in the 55m dash (7.51) and Tulpa was third in the 55m hurdles (8.69). Micaela Mayer finished third in the 200m dash (26.23) and second in the 400m dash (59.73). Katherine McCarthy crossed first in the 400m dash (58.89) and Lori Burgess was second in the 800m run (2:19.66).

Amber Pearsall took top honors in the long jump (17-07.00), followed by Stephanie Kurcab in second (17-02.25). Kurcab won the triple jump (37-05.00), while Tanisha Johnson finished third (33-08.25). Emily Fox was third in the weight throw (49-11.00) and Mary Bogner fourth (48-00.75).
