Results

Grand Valley State University's men's and women's track teams recorded another solid performance as GVSU hosted the Mike Lints Laker Open Friday night. Grand Valley will return home next Friday, Feb. 20 as they will host the GVSU Open at 4:00 p.m.

For the women, April Szatkowski took first place in the 55 meter dash (7.34) and the 200 meter dash (25.74), Alex Baker won the 55 meter hurdles (8.46), and Jeannette Seckinger placed first in the 5000 meter run (18:04.59). Krista O'Dell won the 1 mile run (4:44.88), Ashley Thomas tallied a first place finish in the 400 meter dash (57.59), and Brandi Murell won the 800 meter run with a time of 2:18.76. Also tallying first place finishes, were Pam Treppa in the triple jump (36-11.00) and Katie Wilkins, who won the pole vault with a NCAA qualifying mark of 11-00.25.

On the men's side, Jim Rejc tallied a first place finish in the 55 meter dash (6.63), while Kenny Coleman won the 400 meter dash (49.22), and Joe Wojie took first place in the 800 meter run (1:56.82). Boomer Hoppough finished first in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 7.69 and teammate Joe LeFevre was right behind him in second (7.81). In the field events, Kirk Manchip won both the long jump (22-11.25) and triple jump (44-07.00). John Ybarra placed first in the shot put with a throw of 54-06.00 and Ben Hirdes won the pole vault event with a height of 16-06.00.
