Findlay, Ohio - Donny Stiffler took first place in the men's shot put at the Findlay Open on Friday (Feb. 5) night and bettered his previous provisional mark. Stiffler's throw of 54'1.25" improved on his previous mark and provisionally qualifies him for the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships.
Matt Armstrong finished sixth in the men's shot put elite with a throw of 57'5.75", which beat his previous provisional mark. Armstrong broke the Grand Valley State record, which was held by Alekas Abromavicius, who threw a distance of 57'0.25" last season. In the men's high jump, John Iott finished third with a jump of 6'4".
In the men's running events, the 4 x 400-meter relay team, which consisted of Scott McKeel, Josh Snyder, Zach Mills and Brian Wilder, finished third with a time of 3:32.51.
On the women's side of the track, Erin Eggleston placed third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:03.46. Emily Fox finished second in the women's shot put with a throw of 44'8.75", beating her previous NCAA provisional mark.
The men's and women's track and field teams will compete Saturday, Feb. 6, in Findlay Open at the DII Challenge. The meet will get underway at 12:30 p.m.
