2004-2005: Hecksel jumped to a third place finish at the GLIAC Indoor Championships and qualified provisionally for the NCAA Indoor Championships with a jump of 11'7"...At the Outdoor Championships, Hecksel finished fifth in the pole vault and was awarded All-GLIAC.

2003-2004: Hecksel placed fifth at the GLIAC Outdoor Championship with a vault of 11'6" and received the GVSU Most Improved Jumps Award...High School: Hecksel set the school record at 10'4" and was the Division I State Champion in 2002...Hecksel was awarded the Ted Carlson Athlete of the Year award while competing for Rockford.

Personal: Bethany Hecksel was born in Rockford, Michigan and is the daughter of Bonnie and Greg Hecksel. Bethany is currently studying Movement Science.
