Aug 19, 2013

ALLENDALE, Mich. - Women's tennis head coach John Black has announced the signing of a transfer for the 2013-14 season, as Carola Orna will join the Lakers for the upcoming season. Orna will be a junior and have two years of eligibility remaining.

Orna spent the last two years at William Carey University in Mississippi, where she played #1 singles and #1 doubles. She led her team to the NAIA National Championship match and a #2 NAIA national team ranking. Orna finished the year ranked 12th nationally in singles and seventh in doubles, including high-rankings of #2 in doubles and #9 in singles during the season. She was selected as an NAIA All-American in both singles and doubles and was selected as a first-team all-conference member in both her seasons at William Carey.

"I am very excited to begin working on the courts with Carola as well as having a returning group of experienced players that are ready to do all that it takes to have a great season," said coach Black of his addition and returning squad.

Orna will join seven returning letterwinners on the 2013-14 team. The Lakers will begin their season on September 6th at Malone.
